Why hire a Private Investigator?
-
Private Investigators provide a number of services including background investigations, witness location, interviews, photography and surveillance among other things during the course of a criminal or civil case (or pre-litigation investigation). Many of these services can only be provided by a licensed private investigator under Arizona law. While almost anyone can look at public records and request information from various government agencies and departments, we have established relationships with government entities, and have, through experience, determined where to obtain the necessary information efficiently.

Your investigation will be conducted by licensed, bonded and insured investigators with years of combined experience, each with individual skills and specialties.

What does a background search include?
-
Depending on the nature of your case, it could include any specific records or research you desire, however generally, it is better to allow us, with information and suggestions provided by the client, to determine which records to search, or which investigative options suit your needs. A background search will usually consist of a search of all relevant public records in a given locale. Our investigative reach spans the nation in this regard. Depending on the specifics of your case, a background search can take weeks to complete.

What records are available?
-
Generally, most records maintained by a government agency are available to us. This includes court records, regulatory agency records and discipline files (many professions are exempt or are attempting to exempt themselves from this access). In most cases, motor vehicle records, including ownership, are available as well. In some cases, research is conducted through private companies who sell information.

What else can you do besides obtain records?
-
If needed, we can identify potential witnesses and conduct interviews to obtain additional information. We can perform surveillance to determine an individual's abilities, habits, place of employment or residence.

I need to identify assets, do you do that?
-
We do perform asset searches to identify ownership in real property, motor vehicles, corporations or businesses, etc. We will also search bankruptcy courts and public records to garner additional information regarding the financial wherewithal of the subject. Depending on the nature of your case, and the location of the assets, the turn around time for asset investigations vary.

Can you get bank records? How about a credit report?
-
Possibly. Several federal and state laws restrict banking and credit information to most of the public. In specific cases, with a subpoena or judgment some banking or credit information can be obtained. In addition, it is possible to glean banking information from certain public records. Call us for more details and information regarding your case.

Can you get telephone records, or a non-published number?
-
It depends. Some records are available depending on the purpose and nature of your case. In some instances, telephone information can be obtained from certain public records.

How does surveillance work? Is it expensive?
-
We do perform surveillance for certain attorney and insurance company clients. Generally, we do not follow spouses to determine their extra-marital activities (some rare exceptions are made, especially if it involves a court case; call us for details). Our surveillance technique is to watch for activity for 1 to 4 hours at a time, after conducting research to determine when and where is the best place to do so. Generally, we perform surveillance over the course of a few weeks to a few months.
We charge a slightly higher hourly rate for surveillance, as it is a more difficult assignment which requires additional investigative skills. We can work within your budget, although realize that 7-10 hours is normally the minimum time required to perform a basic surveillance investigation.

I’ve just seen a “do-it-yourself” investigative website, do they work?
-
There are many companies who provide information to the general public for a fee. Generally, these companies advertise “find out anything about anyone”, which if were true would be bad news for all of us. As with most professions and services, if it sounds too good to be true…. There are some sites of value, and even we utilize some of them. But be warned that deciphering the data received is not a service most of these companies provide, and many times, the information needs to be confirmed as it may be inaccurate or outdated.

Do I qualify as a client?
-
For the most part, our services are provided only to attorneys, insurance companies and corporations or businesses. Some exceptions are made for members of the general public; if we cannot help you we can normally refer you to another professional investigator who can. Once you are a client of IIS, Inc., you will have access to the self-service investigation sections of our website.
